I was there again [at the NYC World Trade Center Plaza show (July 17, 2001)] and unless I'm dreaming,
this band is one of the tightest, most enjoyable acts I've seen in years. Alex is in incredible form and
appears ageless. The band's choice of material is impeccable. The classic nature of the Memphis sound is
timeless and their renditions of the many obscure but classic tunes, augmented by the brass, are right on
target. Why there isn't a full blown tour-and NOT on the oldies circuit-I can't understand. I have seen Alex
solo many times since my first exposure in 1978 at Max's Kansas City in NYC and he just keeps getting
better and purer. 3 shows in 2001? We are the lucky few to have experienced this. Come back!
SOON!

Hi...I finally got to see the Boxtops [at Club Regent in Winnipeg Canada on January 20, 2001]!
Front row center! I want to tell you it was one of the best shows I have ever seen! Chilton showed us why
he is said to have the best voice in R&R or R&B. The band really kicked ass! I would liked to have heard
Sweet
Cream Ladies but you can't have it all. Anyway, to all who might read this...If The Boxtops are in your
area, drag your carcass to the show and fasten your seatbelt!!!

The NYC show [at the World Trade Center Plaza on Aug 26, 1999] was soooo
good. The band was in great form, particularly Alex and Gary. The horns
augmented the sound very well. Alex is a pure delight, a real entertainer
and a compelling performer. I've attended his solo shows for 20+ years and
he never disappoints. I didn't know what to expect from a Boxtops show.
Although billed as an "oldies" show, the classic quality of the bulk of the
material (e.g., Dan Penn) makes their music timeless, not old. More NY shows, please.

I went to the Paradise Nightclub on Saturday evening [June 19, 1999] with an old high school
buddy to have one of those rare experiences when you can turn back the clock
and remember when....The J.Geils Band together again after 17 years, but
wait, this "new" band The Boxtops just stole the show.
So, as one of the folks in the audience who was just getting out of diapers in 1967-68, I say no need to look back because you guys rock and roll forward. Thanks for a really great evening.

We saw The Box Tops in concert 9/28/98 at Eastern Ky. University in
Richmond, Ky and the concert was simply fantastic. We have a mail order
record business and have been fans of the Box Tops since 67/68. We have
the new CD "Tear Off" and it is the same fresh, clean and pure R&B,
Soul/Rock sound that the band has always had. We
only hope that they remain together and continue to tour and make
records. Keep on doing it Guys. Your the Greatest.

I just wanted to drop a note and let you know how much I enjoyed your
concert at the Atlanta Civic Center this past weekend. How utterly
refreshing to see the "real deal" in concert...and to be so GOOD too! The
song selection was superb...the NEW material was excellent (yes, I bought
the new cd and have been playing it since the show) and all in all it was
well worth the [three hour] drive for the show. For my money, you folks
were the best part of the triple bill...
...enjoyed Alex's reunion with Jody and Big Star a year or two ago in Atlanta....but this was so much FUN and sounded so good. You guys are better now than ever before...keep it up.

I saw and completely enjoyed your Orlando, FL show of 5/9/98. Hearing
the songs performed by the original group with so much energy and enthusiasm
reminded me how much fun a great concert can be. Tear Off! is as good as
the live show and one of the best new discs I've heard this year. My
favorite cuts are "Last Laugh" and "Big Bird." I've been a fan since 1968
and especially liked Dimensions and the last couple underrated singles,
"Turn on a Dream" and "Tightening Up." I look forward to catching
another show soon and to more new material.

Thanks for letting me know where to find the new CD [Tear Off!]. It arrived a
week ago and is a pure delight. The song choices are terrific, the band is
powerful, and Alex's vocals seem to have a new freedom. Who would have
thought we'd ever have the original Box Tops back together? The album is
one of the great unexpected gifts of recent years.

Just wanted to drop you a line to say what a great time I had at
the show on Saturday [June 20, 1998]. I really meant it when I said you guys sounded
tight - nothing sounded out of place to these ears. "Ain't That A Lot
of Love," "Treat Her Right" and "Flying Saucers Rock 'n' Roll" stand
out, but it all worked for me.
...It was especially cool after the show when you guys were filling me in on some of the late 60s Memphis music scene - your package tours, Bobby Womack, Wilson Pickett, etc. I have a good idea of what was going on at the time, but hearing it from you guys really brought it to life for me.
...Tear Off!, much like your live show, sounds like a bunch of guys really enjoying what they're doing, and it comes through in the music.
